Dr. Jon Kimball joined Utah Neurological Clinic in August, 2020 and works exclusive as a Spine Surgeon. He completed Medical School at the University of California Los Angeles. He went on to complete Residency training at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. He then completed a combined Neurosurgery / Orthopaedic Surgery Spine Fellowship at the University of Southern California.
He specializes exclusively in Spine Surgery. He has advanced training in minimally invasive approaches to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine including anterior, posterior, and lateral approaches. In the cervical spine his practice includes motion sparing procedures including cervical disc replacement, laminoplasty, and key-hole foraminotomy. When instability or severe nerve compromise prevents the use of motion sparing procedures, he utilizes anterior and/or posterior cervical fusion techniques of the cervical spine.
Dr. Kimball has advanced training in anterior, lateral, posterior as well as minimally invasive approaches to the lumbar spine. He strongly believes that each patient has unique pathology that can be best managed with patient specific surgery. He has additional training in Computer Navigated Spine Surgery as well as Robotic Spine Surgery and was the first surgeon to perform Robotic Spine Surgery in Utah Valley.
In addition to Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Dr. Kimball has additional training in the surgical management of Complex Degenerative Conditions of the Cervical, Thoracic, and Lumbar spine that can lead to Degenerative Scoliosis and severe back pain.
In all situations Dr. Kimball strives to limit his surgical intervention to those patients who have absolutely failed conservative care. It is very important to Dr. Kimball that each patient leave the office visit with a solid understanding of their pathology and that the decisions regarding medical treatment are made in conjunction his patients.
